Ixenthraxsis is a half dragon paladin of Tamara (dragon goddess of mercy) who is soon to make an appearance in my HotU (D&D) fanfic, Where Darkness Resides. Her father was a bronze dragon and her mother an elven silver dragon disciple.
I sketched this during roleplaying on Sunday and have been colouring it of and on since Monday. I am absurdly proud of the fact that I not only included a proper background (even if I did screw up the perpsective somewhat), but the entire thing is done with coloured pencils (no cheating and making wishy washy pastel backgrounds this time). I love my prismacolours... each time I think digital is the only way to go, I decide to play with them and every single time I'm reminded why coloured pencils rule  I had so much fun doing this. Shame my scanner hates green really. The colours are much richer 'in the flesh', so to speak.Please full view. |

I also like the shading done on the rock slabs, whatever you'd call them on the ground. Natural color, and the cracks are good. :3 And you even took the time with the little pieces of grass that creep up.
The only colored pencils I have are some cheap ones... I should at least try and use them up I have like.... maybe 300 just sitting there. Oops!
I couldn't just leave her standing with nothing... in my old age, I'm getting a bit funny about backgrounds (as in 'I want to do them', even thought they are a pain!). I spent hours colouring those slabs... sheesh, you'd think I'd have better things to do, wouldn't you?!
I only got my prismas recently - hubby when to San Jose and bought them as a pressie. Before that, I was using plain old watercolour pencils (if which I have about, oooooo, 300?

I decided to make her a really draconic looking half dragon because that really fits in with what I want for the story... I *nearly* made her a Dragon Born character, but their devotion of Bahamut didn't quite fit in with what I have planned for the character, so half dragon it is! (Should be interesting - so far the only 'normal' character is Jen, my protagonist!
Woot indeed for coloured pencils! They rule so much...

It was a pain regarding the wings - being a bronze, they have wings that grade to green - guess who didn't consider that when she began colouring the grass?
